RoadMind is a specialized workbench for heavy lift engineers, transport planners, and SPMT operators. It connects your 3D transport model directly to the calculations that keep it safe — stability, axle load, lashing, and documentation, all inside a single FreeCAD document.
RoadMind complements StowMind, our naval architecture workbench. Where StowMind handles ships, RoadMind handles the SPMT transport that follows.
Configure an SPMT transport from a cargo list and a saddle layout. RoadMind selects the optimal combination of modules from your fleet database, distributes the axle lines between the saddles, and checks every relevant limit:
The 3D model is generated directly in FreeCAD from the calculated configuration — modules, saddles, cargo, orientation markers, all in the correct coordinate system.

The stability solver evaluates all relevant load cases — static, braking, curve, slope, and wind — with signed accelerations, not absolute values. This catches the worst case in each direction:
All results feed directly into the PDF report and the TechDraw drawing.
The lashing editor lets you design the securing arrangement directly on the 3D model. Place lash points on the SPMT and the cargo, connect them, and RoadMind calculates the forces:
RoadMind generates a complete A2 landscape TechDraw page with front, side, top, and isometric views of the transport — plus a second top view that shows only the SPMT modules with the stability polygon, the COG, and the load-case envelope:
One click produces an A4 PDF report with the full transport calculation: cargo data, saddle positions, SPMT configuration, stability, axle loads, suspension points, reactions per load case, self-check, and footer disclaimer. The report follows the same styling as the StowMind reports.
Save the entire transport setup — inputs, results, lashings, stoppers, and the last lashing balance — as a single FreeCAD object. Reload it later and the task panel re-fills with the stored values. This lets you keep multiple transport variants in one document and switch between them without re-entering data.
Follow the video tutorial to see how to download and install RoadMind for FreeCAD 1.1, launch the workbench, and get started with your first steps.
▶ Watch the YouTube TutorialWindows users: Windows SmartScreen may show a warning when starting the installer because it is not yet widely recognized. See the Windows installation instructions before proceeding. Only continue if you downloaded RoadMind from this official website; never bypass a warning that identifies a specific malware threat.
After the included 12 months, extend updates and support annually. The installed version continues to work without extension, but without updates.
